Hello everyone! I´d like to introduce myself, but first of all thanks @TheIndieBeat to point me to this place. I’ve been reading a lot already, and discovered a lot of familiar faces from Mastodon/TIBTV.
My name is Matthias, my alias is ooRay, which I’ve been using since the 90ties. Born and raised in Berlin, I’m a kid of the 80ties & 90ties. Radio stations like AFN and RIAS 2, and of course the classic MTV are a big part of my roots, and had a big influence on my decision to pursue a career as media creative. I’m doing that since 2000, most of the time as a video editor/cutter. Even though music is always an essential part of it, the main focus is more on the visual part. That shifted a bit last year, when I decided to honour my musical roots and to focus more on music and music video production. The result is my first track ever published in the net, and the video premiering on TIBTV at the end of March. It makes me very happy and proud to see it played in the company of so many great videos made by so many talented artists.
It has also been a dive into a rabbit hole aka the Fediverse and independent music production and distribution. So, I’m here to learn, learn, learn, connect and share. I also picked up DJing last year, and I’m currently working on a mixtape series I call “multi-spectral airplay mixes 90-99”. My 14 year old daughter has the previews on heavy rotation, and that’s also something that makes me very happy and proud. So, yeah, I’m in love with creation in general, and in my house, GenAI stays outside. Ok, so much for my first post, I’m happy to be here! ![]()
Welcome! Great to see you here ![]()
@kidlightbulbs Great job with unstream! It helps with the problem of not all artists being one platform. I guess you gotta add Subvert, right?
thank you! And yeah, it’s on my to-do list now that they’re officially launching. I’m in their forums keeping an eye on things.

Aloha everyone, I am an experimental musician living in Hawaiʻi. I also run a non-profit called Experimental Futures Corporation that is centered on using culture as a technology for community capacity-building.
Hello I’m Becky. I am mostly here out of curiosity. I book bands at a music festival as my day job, I also write about music, culture, art & artists, I make a zine and put on shows in my local pub. I am extremely interested in how we communicate around and through music, and the culture that surrounds music scenes.
Lovely to have you here ! You might notice this place is sometimes a bit quiet, which we all here… kind of embrace, because a lot of the people here simultaneously extremely time and energy consuming projects (which you can handily check out here) so it helps that the discussions here are slower.
This being said, your specific point of view seems like it could be very valuable to some of us (I personally participate to Projects > Mirlo but I’m sure many others might be interested to have a chat with you) so looking forward to talk some more ! And don’t hesitate to share anything you have on your mind or create topics on specific issues you want to raise.
Hi all,
Chris (aka - C.Circo & someXs Y). I am from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I make all sorts of electronic music. Started out via Bandcamp and then found my way to the Fediverse and on to Mirlo. Also, a little more recently I have been involved with BonkWave helping with the various compilations, and steering the sample challenge components. Also, I am the host of Transverse Tempo on AudioInterface.org
Apart from my musicalities, I am a formerly trained archivist with an interest in preserving and making accessible non-governmental organization and refugee histories, and heritage collections. So, if you ever have any questions about archiving, please do not hesitate to reach out. Happy to chat.
Great to finally make my way on to here (I meant to make an account about a year ago - my apologies
)
Better late than never. Welcome!
Thanks for the warm welcome. Slowly getting caught up on all the threads and discussions I missed.
Hello everyone,
I’m both french and chilean, living in Paris, and playing guitar in an indie rock band called Wonderflu. I co-run Influenza Records and started recently doing silly charts with songs I like.
I spend a good deal of my time online on the Subvert forum so might not be here on a daily basis but I’m interested in any collective discussion about alternatives to the current music landscape. So I’m truly glad this space exists, thanks a lot for starting it ![]()
