Hi, we want to add a “Follow TSMN” asterism icon to the header (see details).

Question: should we use the same asterism we have in the logo, or another one? No matter what we do, please let’s keep using 5-leg asterism. Yesterday I finally made the connection about why the 6-leg ones don’t sit well in my brain: Christogram - Wikipedia.

I have added a regular asterism because I was testing how to add a custom SVG. It’s ok, but if you want something better, please share the SVG here. Now I know how to do this with custom SVGs.

Looks great in Chrome! Still not visible from Firefox, unfortunately, even after Ctrl-F5/Ctrl-Shift-R… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

@unspeaker works for me on Firefox. Can you try with an incognito window (hence logged out), please?

Yes, appears correctly from incognito:

Can it be that you are using a theme that it’s not the default? I just realized that the functionality that allows custom svg to render as banner icons is likely not supported in Graceful and Sam’s.

Luckily that icon is targeted for anonymous users and newcomers who haven’t scanned all their user preferences yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I was on Sam’s. Wasn’t doing as much for me as I’d hoped for, so I reverted to default, and now the icon is there :slightly_smiling_face: (Gruvbox colors still looking great on Default ^_^)

Anyone with better skills than mine (close to zero) to produce something in PDF that I can take to the copy shop at the corner?

Here: TSMN logo and visual materials

@prinlu it would be grat if we could link to the sources for the speaker, the asterism, and the font family. Based on these we should be able to give the logo a license. I would go for CC0 if we can.

the speaker is a modified version from svgrepo.com: Speaker Simple None Bold Vector SVG Icon - SVG Repo it’s under MIT licence. Created by ‘Phosphor’ → Collections by Phosphor - SVG Repo

the asterism is from Cormorant Garamond font - designed by Christian Thalmann and licenced under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1 .

the font for text is IBM Plex Sans. licensed under the “Open Font License.”

the orange = RGBA: “ff5c00ff”
the bright foreground = RGBA “ffe8d1ff”

I agree to any open free-culture licence.

:waving_hand: New member, I happen to work for Discourse. Happy to be here!

You’ll want to upload a square icon of the logo too. That’s what shows up if folks add the app to their mobile device’s homescreen or use our Discourse Hub app.

You can see it missing here, in my Hub app on iOS:

Thanks for the tip. I assume these are the Favicon and Apple Touch images, as those were the only ones I could see were missing. I’ve uploaded them now, so hopefully it works.
