We're growing! by Mirlo

Over the past two years we've had an incredible amount of help from large parts of our community. Some  come and go as their capacity allows, leaving behind amazing work and insights. Others stick around and help consistently, making significant contributions over time. Part of the motivation for us to bring our processes in order and documented was to formally bring some of these people into our stewards circle.

Last month, we trialed this process for the first time, and two of our core organizers self-nominated to become stewards of Mirlo. We're incredibly excited to bring in two amazing musicians and organizers Roberta and Tim to help us guide the project.

Roberta is a musician, video maker and amateur puppeteer from the Isle of Wight, UK, making “wildly maximalist, mildly-anarchic pop music” and has appeared on The Guardian, The Independent and KEXP.

She has also previously worked as a designer and marketer, occasional stage manager and been involved in an independent makers group support network as a co-organiser and social media manager, securing funding for events and creating an online community hub. Roberta has been focusing on our social media and marketing strategy, and you've seen her wonderful work when you follow us on socials. Roberta's music is on Mirlo here.

Tim is a software designer and programmer, drummer, audio engineer, electronics-tinkerer, and lover of music. Tim has made software in the media industry and has played various instruments at local venues including radio stations such as WPTS and regionally on the Saturday Light Brigade show. With Mirlo, Tim is focused on driving accessibility, usability, creativity, and community. Tim's product work has been incredibly mindful and thorough over the past year and a half. Check out Tim's band on Mirlo.

Over the next few months we will be working with Roberta and Tim to determine whether they want to become legal co-owners of Mirlo. Their insights in our community, on our product, and on our trajectory have been invaluable.
