I was re-reading What is The Social Music Network and realizing that it doesn’t address the role of the so-called artificial intelligence in music creation. Partly this is due to the fact that TSMN focuses on fair music distribution and discovery and fair trade for music makers. How that music is created is like out of scope.
But is it? Clearly all music is welcome regardless of genres, instruments used, DAWs etc used… but do we take a stance on music disclosed or known to have been created using AI? Especially music created through prompts, “vibe” composing or producing if that’s a word (as opposed to other uses like i.e. mastering where it is between hard and impossible to tell unless the creators say it).
