Email-based newsletters must be one of the oldest online tools still alive to reach out to people interested in your creative work. They even seem to have a comeback in the past years.
What do you think about email newsletters? Do you have one? What is its role in your overall outreach? Are you happy about your subscribers and the feedback received? What software or service are you using, and do you recommend it?
No need to answer all these questions, and I’m sure there are more. The idea is to have a conversation.
For what it’s worth, we switched to dogfood our own email newsletter on the mirlo platform over a year ago. I’m pretty happy we’re doing this, but obviously there’s still minor flaws (waves at list of tickets), but we’ve been slowly fixing issues and improving it (I still have to figure out how to include the playlist functionality in the email newsletter!)
I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t let it bother me if subscriptions go down after sending out a newsletter, because I care more about the people who do read it. I don’t really use the “private email functionality here” for mirlo (so all our newsletters are public) but I can definitely see it being useful to be able to e-mail specific segments of your audience.
