Mirlo Features Update: September by Mirlo

It's been a while since we've done some bragging about what we've been building, but it's because we've been busy busy busy, not because there's nothing to report.

TLC for our Subscription Pages!

Subscriptions are one of the biggest sources of consistent recurring income on our platform for artists, and we've been giving them some love. Check out Constellation and Roberta's pages as an example.

Trust, safety, and moderation

This one is a little more behind the scenes, but as we've been growing we've been needing to tackle more and more flagged reports, AI uploads, spam messages that go to artists, etc. The changes here make our lives easier. We've done some more integration with Cloudflare to protect our site from malicious users, the ability to report spam, disable user accounts, worked on trust levels, and set content flags, all with a nice feed visible to instance admin.

Artist tools

  • As an artist you can now move releases between profiles (accidentally uploaded something to your label when it should have been on an artist profile? Easy fix).

  • You can set all your payments to go to a different account entirely (handy for if your friend is handling your income for you, or you want to temporarily dedicate all sales to another user).

  • Now we'll automatically calculate cost of the entire catalogue so that people can buy it all in one go. Want to offer a discount to people who buy it all? You can choose a flat fee or a percent via the Set entire catalogue price button on the Releases page. Don't want this at all? Just turn it off in the dropdown menu under Pricing.

  • Are you the type that has specific licenses for your tracks? Now you can set them all at the same time.

  • Do you send people a physical reward for signing up to a subscription? Subscriber CSV exports now include billing cycle and fulfillment address if it's been supplied.

General improvements (behind the scenes)

We've done some consolidating of our purchases into a single flow. This will lay the ground work for some smoother purchasing flows (eg. per-artist shopping carts), the ability to use our API from other sites, etc. We're also now storing platform currency on every transaction so that admin can have an accurate insight on how much money is being spent on the platform. Finally, with minio getting purged from the internet, we've switched our dev stack to use Garage.

Using one of the new features on your artist page? Let us know on Discord, Instagram, Bluesky and the Social Web. Want to suggest a feature or flag an issue? Visit our GitHub.
