Ten days and I didn’t know about it? I join everything.
I’m an ancient one, playing guitar for decades, have music online since 1972, with the Pure Food & Drug Act. I took up saxophone several years ago but am probably still a beginner.
Took me a couple of tries to figure this interface. Anyways, I go by the name Jay Peach and i first started on my musical journey over 60 years ago. Played one of my 27 guitars for a lot of that time, along with keyboards. But wrist injuries have made guitar playing near impossible, so I gravitated to making music on keyboard instruments. Mostly do music in the ambient, funk, “edm” and experimental electronic veins. I’ve lost track of the keyboards I have, which include besides the usual synths and pianos and organs, I also play a glockenspeil, xylophone, steel drum, and 5 singing bowls of various sizes.
hi, i’m tullpen. I live near Heidelberg right now and produce different kinds of sounds. I’m looking for people to collab and am open to ideas
Hi, I’m Jon. I don’t actually make music (although I certainly enjoy it, especially psytrance and darkwave), but I write a lot about social networks at the Nexus of Privacy Newsletter – in fact I included Bandwagon, Indie Beat Radio, and Faircamp in in an article on A lot of good stuff is happening in the fediverses! a couple months ago. I actually wound up finding this site because somebody linked to the discussion of FediForum, but have been interested in how the interaction between social networks and music scenes for a long time.
A decade ago I prototyped a (non-federated) social network platform, with events as well as threaded discussion, and explored the possibilities of a scene-focused social network with some psytrance DJs and promoters. It really feels like there are some interesting possibilities for non-exploitative business models that would send most of the money to artists, DJs, and indie promoters / venues / labels, but it wasn’t clear how to finance initial development of software that would be as easy to use as Facebook et al. Oh well. So, I moved on to other projects …
Since then, software infrastructure’s gotten somewhat better, decentralization has opened up new opportunities (although also new usability challenges), and Facebook has gotten worse and more exploitative. So I think the opportunities are still there, more than they’ve ever been, and it’s exciting to see all these new projects springing up!
Hi there, I’m hellekin.
I'm mad at Bandcamp...
A few months ago I started being mad at BC as it went down the capitalist pipe that crushes everything it touches. I supported (and still do) the BandCamp United union, and threatened to organize the alt.music scene to destroy BC if it continued this downward spiral.
Very happy to see someone else taking this up and bringing together decentralized cooperative free software and musicians. Exactly what needs to be done.
I have some music info on my profile (@how), but otherwise I’m just a heavy listener. Just came back from a concert with an audience of 50 actually. Loved it. Jamming at home every other week. These days I’m rather doing the same thing as the.socialmusic.network, but for books.
to all I know, and happy to meet those I do not know yet.
Hello! I made an account here a few days after its inception but just haven’t had the time to do much of anything besides work until a few days ago.
I’m a guitarist, composer and synthesizer tinkerer based in Prague (formerly of Logroño, Spain and even (much) more formerly of Texas). I started out long ago doing indie-ish stuff on synths and guitar but then stopped musick-ing for many years.
I reintroduced myself into the art with ambient and experimental improvisational material involving too many effect pedals. I’ve since spent hours and months and epochs composing and continuing on my ambient improvisational journey incorporating more and more (especially modular) synth material. I have many albums and random tracks on my faircamp site, on mirlo, and on bandcamp. I’m also a long time member of sonomu.club.
I am an avid Linux user (mostly Arch) and do all my recording using Ardour and various other FOSS tools. I also do programming for that money stuff which is annoying but necessary.
I look forward to spending time exploring this site!
Hi folks! Thanks for setting up this place and inviting me along. I’m Chris, a member of the worker co-op Go Free Range. We’re building jam.coop, a co-operatively owned online record shop that launched in 2023.
Hi there,
I’m ph4nt. (they/them) and I make creative commons music mostly with hardware-synthesizer, guitar and my voice. I have a blog and host my releases primarily on bandcamp. I’m glad that I’ve been invited to this place - I try to find alternatives to big centralized tech-corps (well, bandcamp became part of one, Funkwhale seems to be down) and especially to Meta, which I don’t wanna rely on solely. I use Mastodon since a few years on & off but had big difficulties getting to know musicians or avid listeners there…maybe that gonna change now For Mixing & Mastering, I used to use DAW Ardour and now switched to Reaper - which isn’t foss afaict, but a trade-off i made in order to tame some transients into listenable territories
Else, I use xUbuntu.
My native language is german so please forgive my not that perfect english. I also sing in german - nevertheless, I translated the lyrics to my newest release on Bandcamp Thematically, that ranges from antifascism, queerness, repression, climate-dystopia and the fight against it to anticapitalism, feeling overwhelmed with live and finding niches in which one can somewhat evade capitalist dystopia. Musically I call this Industrial-Punk
A friend of mine & me also do DIY-Tapes - sometimes 2nd hand cassettes, sometimes new ones - whiches artwork we print, spray on, laminate or whatever. I also play live kinda much (or at least, try to) and with help of @icaria36 habe 2 events in the calender right now - thanks again
Heartfelt thanks also to everybody else for making this place alive & flourishing, nice and helpful & full of new inspirations I’m looking forward to meeting you!
Hello I’m Kydia and I was born with Microtia grade 3 and am single-sided deaf (half deaf) as a result. I have a prosthetic ear and a bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) through which I can use bluetooth to help me record, since I can’t really wear headphones (because of the prosthetic ear). I also have ADHD and have severe burnout and it seems to take me forever to make music as a result.
My website is currently just a collection of links where you can listen to my music: https://www.kydiamusic.com/
My latest track is only available on Bandcamp and Mirlo, b/c yeah.
My fedi profile is Cat Lady Kydia Music 🇺🇦 (@KydiaMusic@mastodon.social) - Mastodon
I sing and play keys, guitar, and hammered dulcimer, although lately I’m more interested in making electronic-based pop-ish music in Ableton. I would call my style romantic indie pop, but am interested in EDM and dubstep too, although I haven’t really incorporated anything with those genres.
Thanks for creating this space; I’m happy to be here. I’m so tired of traditional, algorithmic- and corporation-based platforms.

Hey fellow artists and music makers. I’m new to this network and to the whole decentralized social media concept (Fediverse). I’m intrigued to know more about and dive deeper into these communities.
I feel more connected to these types of networks and servers because of the ethics and values they say they stand by.
Does anybody else feel the same way?
-M Cubed
Hi everyone, my name is Alex. Part of the founding crew behind Mirlo with LLK and Simon. Jazz trombonist, anthropologist, and co-op organizer—you can read more about the projects I’ve worked on here.
I’m finally working on releasing my own music for the first time after a long career in music-adjacent writing worlds (jazz journalism, musical anthropology) that has brought me into contact with many active musicians especially in the jazz world. Currently based in the Northeastern US, looking to move to Chile soon.
