New Features
A complete list of features will be in the changelog, but here are the most important ones:
- New UI with both dark and light themes (still in progress, expect some bugs).
- Multiple artist support for compilations and featured tracks.
- Follow users to track their listening activity, favorites, and playlists.
- Listenbrainz integration to sync listenings and favorites.
- Admin option to allow only MusicBrainz-tagged files on an instance.
- Content quality filter.
- Libraries are replaced with playlists for a better user experience.
Re: ‘content quality filter’ (which I think ‘hides’ the controversial topic):
EDIT:
Content quality filter is explained here: Quality filter — funkwhale 1.4.0 documentation
The controversial topic linked above and also touched upon below is about ideas and mechanisms of content moderation based on certain genre tags, and has nothing to do with Content quality filter.
Wow. That IS interesting reading. MusicBrainz and Wikidata used for a hardcoded filter of far-right music… I don’t know about how the latter will go, but bringing MusicBrainz and Wikidata closer to social music and the fediverse is very good.
‘content quality filter’ doesn’t hide anything, it’s a completely different feature. We don’t need to hide we want to ban far right artists.
thanks for clarification. i couldn’t find any additional info what content quality filter is about.. is this explained somewhere perhaps?
