In Silicon Valley, people are “consumers” and “users.” We resist a narrative that turns people into subjects of a technocracy. With Folk Tech, we’re all just folks.
We’ll have a presentation from Ivan Minutillo about Bonfire, a customizable community platform built on Activity Pub.
We’ll delve into “what a community garden needs” with Emily McGill.
We’ll have room for discussion about Folk Tech and how we can start a movement to have beautifully designed, simple-to-use peer-to-peer, open source, open standards-based, and decentralized technology so that our needs matter!
Get to know other folks in the scene and bring your own projects, either community work or tech. We’ll offer time for demos, share-outs about aligned projects and events, and updates about Folk Tech in the world.
