I have updated the description to add new Knowledge base docs.
Also, instead of requiring that the top posts are short (Mastodon-friendly), I have added a note that we will federate an excerpt if the top post is long.

I have federated Top of TSMN March 2025.
If all goes well, only the top post should be federated and not the replies.
I didn’t use the [notes] syntax and instead published the full post. Why? I wasn’t sure whether the notes syntax would break the listing if I placed it in the middle. The only alternative would have been to place them before, not federating the actual list. But this fels like clickbait (we have made a ranking, click here to know who’s first!) so I went for the full post this time, and we can discuss what do we do next month.
Also, the links are pasted a links, not with the nice render Discourse makes on top. Luckily the titles can still be read, but they look ugly. Next time I’ll create proper text with links, which should work better.
I don’t know you, but I’m not seeing images for the author avatar and the oembed window at the bottom. I need to investigate this…
Reported: Publishing posts to Mastodon - #2 by icaria36 - Administrators - Discourse Meta
Also, there are no note syntax in the Call for moderators federated today because either there is a bug or I did something wrong. I asked upstream: Publishing posts to Mastodon - #3 by icaria36 - Administrators - Discourse Meta
I’ve just realized that we can link a Fediverse account to our TSMN account in our user preferences.
But we can’t test this because we turned off federated responses. Still, cool and helps avoid the annoying problem of duplicated accounts in a discussion where you are alternating between your Fediverse and Discourse accounts.
Good to see this blog post published today, meaning that Discourse is invested on this plugin beyond the current “experimental” version.
Hi, there!
We run a NodeBB forum over at WeDistribute, and would love to federate with this place! What do we need to do from our end?
Hi @deadsuperhero, very cool! I believe federation between forums happens at the (sub)category level. I see you have created FediMusic | Forums | We Distribute. Should we try to federate it with our General category and see what happens?
Let’s try it! I’ll attempt to follow General and report back.
Hmmm… it looks like we’re currently stuck in a “pending” state…
If it helps, our category on our end uses the handle @fedimusic@forum.wedistribute.org
I think you need to follow general@the.socialmusic.network. I just set it up.
Just sent a request over. Still pending, but I can at least see a follow coming in…
@deadsuperhero I don’t see anything I should approve. Can you post a new topic in your subcategory, please?
Yay! Federated forums!
