Alright here are our August numbers!
Our numbers are a little half baked this month because our reimbursables to Alex and Simon came through (totaling about $3,000) and we also paid our lawyer the final installment of what we owe them ($2,000). Additionally, expenses that would usually get paid by the co-op were put on Simon's credit card so those aren't appearing in the totals, but will be next month—roughly a total of $550 this month. We also were able to pay our first worker owner with a small contract worth $1,500, half of which was paid at the end of August. This brought our expenses this month to about $6,500.
For income—this month we made $362 from direct gifts and $34 through purchases made through the platform (which totaled $138, an increase from both June and July)! We received the Co-op Impact Grant lump sum of $10,000, which makes it look like we made a lot of money, but none of our expenses can truly be tracked against that because it requires work being done for it to be tracked against it specifically.
As a result our $3,900 "profit" is a bit of a misnomer. What's noteworthy though is that as of this month, our major outstanding payments have been accounted for. We are well within our budget expenses for this month, the only thing going slightly over is our Gigs budget, which was exceeded by just $6. We’ve also had to re-jig our budget twice in the past month to accommodate new expenses.
If we ignore the weird way our certain outstanding obligations fell within what coincidentally happened to be this month, we’re looking at roughly $1,800 in monthly expenses and costs (which includes paying just one worker, at a price much below a minimum wage) with a platform income of $400. We have a large gap to fill! Help us cover it by contributing.
Mirlo had $18,554 in the bank at the end of August, $10,000 of which was allocated to the Co-op Impact Grant.
