Check out your feedback in action!
It's been a minute since we added to the blog, but it's safe to assume that if we're a little quiet on here, we're probably making improvements, squishing a bug (or Mirb might be eating it) and talking to our community about what would be most helpful to them in running their labels, bands and projects.
To that end, here's a few things that we've worked on and we hope you'll find them useful. As always, if you'd like to report anything strange on the Mirlo site or suggest a new feature, you can do so on our GitHub page and we will look through them. Even though we're a small volunteer team, we do look through them all and review each item based on the resources we have available.
Notification feed
If you head over to "profile" and the "notifications" tab, you'll notice that this section has had a significant overhaul to improve legibility and functionality, with feeds where you can toggle music releases and blog posts from those you follow and look at your personal activity from followers on the right hand side.
Accounting email
Do you have someone dedicated to accounting on your team that needs to receive transactions emails only? We now have a field to enter an email address specifically for that! With that we've also made our sales emails a bit more useful and standardized (including SKUs etc).
Rewards for subscriptions
We've made some significant improvements to this area with artists and labels now able to add releases to specific tiers as well as discounts on merch and digital items. The page has also generally received some TLC so that it's clear how you're supporting, how much, and what you're getting for it. Not supporting our development yet? Pitch in!
The Social Web
If you want your artist profile to be follow-able from other websites, you can now "Enable The Social Web" and people can subscribe to your feed from other places. With support from our NLNet funding we've finally enabled the ActivityPub standard integration on our site, so that people across the internet will be able to follow your artist account. Consider this a public beta though so please report bugs and issues as you find them. To turn this on for your artist profile, simply go to your "Profile settings" and toggle the switch that says "Enable The Social Web".
Accessibility improvements
Thanks again to NLNet funding one of our stewards--Tim--has been hard at work taking screen readers to our site and improving various parts of the website so that they become more accessible. This work is ongoing and improvements will keep on coming down the pipeline.
Finally, check out our new documentation site. It includes everything from guides on how to set up a label page, how pay outs work, and how you can set up your own version of Mirlo.
We have a lot more exciting features in the pipeline and have also been doing a lot of work to clean things up, make things more efficient, small tweaks and improvements throughout.
Mirlo Mondays Wrap-Up
Here's what we've been listening to on Mirlo in the past month or so.
With guitar sounds that have been described as "warming rays of sunlight" across a vast expanse and tape-warped piano tones that stretch for eternity, today's #MirloMondays discoveries are from Ed Herbers in Cincinnati, Ohio, starting with "Season Cycle: Spring".
They may be called look the band, but we implore you to also hear the band. "One" combines sparkling new wave brilliance with quieter moments reminiscent of early PJ Harvey, Karaocake and The Breeders. 💥🐦⬛
Some live techno here, with a name-your-price release from multimedia artist @nilehn.
They also co-run an electronic event called Computer Club in Leeds, UK, offering a welcome respite from the individualistic excess of superstar DJ culture and instead fostering open connections and communication with those in the space: https://computerclubevents.com
