That’s some huge almost hurtful judgmental generalisation. There are people who are not music-makers, and never wanted to be, but enjoy writing about it in creative way. Writing about music is a beautiful field, and I find it very interesting if someone finds my music inspiring to think about it in one or the other way, especially if they engage with concepts and contexts surrounding it. If course, as with everything, there are good ones and bad ones. I must say, I’m sensitive to overt self-authority in critical writing about music, but, again, there’s also some extremely well written stuff out there. If course there are also musicians who just hate any writing about music.
