@strypey, you raise some very valid points. I absolutely concur that working together is a must if any of us want to make real change in the industry.

I think cross-site discovery is an awesome idea, like federated artist/music catalogues. A ‘finders fee’ for whichever site you’re on when you discover an artist and want to purchase something from them, regardless of where the actual purchase takes place, makes a lot of sense especially for a platform like Subjam, since we’re not in the track/album hosting/sales business.

We lean heavily into the live and local scene territory, instead envisioning us as a tool for performing artist/band/event promotion, sponsorships, venue partnerships who stream live on our radio network, and more general local scene collaboration/support features.

So, cross-pollinating databases, for example, with Mirlo and others for direct track purchases/streams, as well as from their side, links to hear upcoming live broadcasts of them on Subjam, etc. is very exciting concept. It would take a lot of planning and work (not just technical but PR) but I think the goal we’re all reaching for is to get the masses OFF IG/FB/TikTok/Xitter/etc, and onto more respecting and supporting platforms they can actually be proud of associating with, right? Ones like the ones that members here are building :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
